Hey guys, I hope the surfing community is paying close attention to the endeavors of companys like Green Wave Energy backed by Tony Strickland. They are in the early stages of developing ocean generators which will convert wave energy into electric energy. They are presently planning permits to perform testing off the southern shores of Morro Bay. It has all the makings of bad things to come for surfers and our all too precious waves. This might make a great article to bring it to the attention of surfers. You can check out some the development efforts on Youtube; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oswak_lJ95Q Thanks, - Bill

In these days of Summer Blues, when Lake Atlantic stinks of reflective waters, one ponders on life without a swell. When your girl is gone, your liquor-soggy brain regains some consciousness, and your wallet is thin, what to do? For now, close the blinds, roll over, and dream of tropical storms of Catagory strength skirting north along the seaboard.

Wed Jun 4, 2008, 9:59 AM

Looking through the "Reader Comments" online, I notice that there are a lot of posts including subscriber's address information... In these days of heightened awareness of personal privacy and security, do you think it's really wise to have this information posted for anyone to see? I would suggest a seperate email address that such requests can be made to. If there is one already, then maybe it should be better advertised. Other than that, keep up the great work!

I have bought two surfer magazines off the racks, and i was very happy to see how environmentally friendly everything is. Your magazine is a great inspiration, i cant say it anyway else. At my highschool we had locker cleanout, so all the paper from many of the kids lockers was thrown into the garbage. After we were called back to our classes after locker cleanout, i couldn't sit still, something didn't feel right about seeing all that paper there. So i ditched my learning assistance class and then went dumpster diving through the paper and collected 4 giant garbage bags full of paper. I went through every garbage in the school, and i know it sounds gross, but all that was in the garbage was paper. So I just wanted to say that your magazine really is an inspiration and I just wanted to throw my story out there.

I have been following professional surfing since I first learned to read (Im 32 this year) and would dig through my dads SURFER and SURFING magazines. I clearly remember a section in the back of each issue where there would be results and a brief summery of each professional event including photos. I currently have a subscription to both publications and there is very little about the ASP World Tour. Kelly Slater has won 3 of 4 events this year and there is little or nothing on this topic in the mags?! In the 80s if Martin Potter or Tom Curren won a few events in a row there was a cover story and plenty about the events in the back. It concerns me when I talk to young surf groms and they havent a clue about the ASP and that Kelly Slater is some old surf dude? What!? They have the magazines and think that the guys with the most ads are the best in the world. I wish there was more exposure for the world tour and the best surfers in the world. It seems to me that with you guys having the Michael Jordon / Tig

PART II - - - / Tiger Woods of surfing out there winning and breaking records that you would want to cover it closer. Most people I know that loosely follow surfing dont even know about Kellys run at a 9 Th. world title. I think this is something special and there should be more said about it. This guy is surfing as good if not better than ever and the top stories about Jamie OBrien or Dane Reynolds? Come on! I read each issue to see if theres any news or comments from ex-pros, ect. about the current events of the ASP world tour and see nothing. I wonder if this were Bobby (Martinez) or Bede instead of Kelly if the stories would be there? Maybe people feel Kelly has already had too much exposure? Its all bull, Kelly deserves the attention and I hope to see more about his title run in the future. Look at the coverage Tiger Woods gets with a win. Kelly has been at it longer and has a pretty damn good record too. On any given day Kelly can smoke any one of the

PART III - - - guys you guys like to report on month after month and all of surfing knows it. Why is there nothing on this guy? At the least a blurb that no other guy on the ASP tour has even won an event in 2008? Isnt that news worthy? Kelly is the ONLY reason myself and several of my friends are still interested in pro surfing. These Aussies that hate the USA and some of the younger guys that dont have the passion or respect for surfing that Kelly has are of no interest to me or most people ages 30+. Kelly is from the old school and I appreciate that. My dad is 56 and loves to follow Kelly Slater! I enjoy every issue I get, I love the magazine. I just think that there is a serious lack of info on the pro surfing tour and especially the top professional surfer in the land.

Seems like a guys can't even rest when he's dead as some loud mouth glory parasite is always trying to re-write history. Sam George is the largest and most prevalent version of KOOK the surfing world has today. Demonstrated in various publications and documentaries (this being one, hats off to successfully backfilling that spot), but now in my life chronicles recently seen of bookstands. Sam's shotty attempts to gain notoriety on the backs of true pioneers makes all of us up here including Duke and Tom Blake, not only roll over but slide hopelessly over-the-falls in anguish. Thant poor bastard, does he know he is the poster child for the guy you love to burn. p.s. - can someone send me a plane ticket so I can enjoy back-paddling that chunt wherever he's at. Thanks.

Dear Sir, I'm living in France and I just suscribed SUFER MAG for 2 years thru internet. There was an extra offer during the subscription process : 12 issues of SURFING for 7 $. I accepted this extra offer (at this price of 7 $), but I was charged an extra...22 $ on my crdit card. No information was given about this extra 15 $ at the time I accepted the offer. This is no fair business and no agreement was found on this price between you and me. Therefore, I would like you to, either : - Confirm the subscription to SURFING but refund the extra 15 $ you billed me without my agreement ; - Or cancel the subscription to SURFING and refund 22 $. Thanks for your answer ASAP. Wladimir BLANCHY

would be awesome if you guys could put a poster in every issue.also we get tired of always reading about all the famous surfers don't get me wrong we love them! we like locals too. maybe fill us in on what jack johnson did with some of our famous surfers. stir it up a little. posters turn us on! i was disapoiunted as hell when i subscribed and found out thaere were not mant posters in the mags.we want to hear about surfing close to home what about all us local bound surfers, how about the places with 5- 6 feet , and the challenges of say people in north carolina emerald isle a south facing beach that has potentail to rip during hurricane season? how about all the millions of surfers like me that don't get 100 ft waves served to us on a silver platters like all the famous surfers? surfers want to hear about more than being towwed into 100 ft waves, we want our local spots or experiances in our small local surf we want surf art etc. only then will i re subscribe. also DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE LONGBO

long boarders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i long and short board but the majority of the time i longboard, seems every issue is about short boarding to me i would love to see more longboarding, its surfer magazine not shortboarder 100 ft waves famous surfers only no posters magazine! i promise if you do more effort to keep me hooked i will re subscribe. its just not doing it for me anymore your magazines have beciome boring and predictable. maybe have a specail shark attack issue! or a specaill short boarder everything about shortboarding issue, long boarder inssue everything about long borders issues! specail winter surfing issuse everything about surfing in the winter! i know you guys have it in you! please respond to me and let me know if you are gonna hook us up, cause then i'll resubscribe! peace out dudes! what about us guys that make our own boards and surf racks, a specaill do everything yourself surfing issue! stuff like that is where its at man!!!!!

My husband and I have been subscribers to your magazine for YEARS, but we are pretty appauled by an ad you had on the back of one of your magazines lately. I realize that art takes many form and one of those forms are nudity, but children? We have a 17 month old daughter and the thought of all the pedifiles and child pornography people out there discust us... so when we saw your add... well, we were blown away. If someone found pictures like those in a computer they would call the police and yet you felt it was ok to publish them on the back of your magazine. We are discusted. We realize that not everyone shares our ideas of descency but what does naked babies/children have to do with surfing or the love of a good wave? We think it was simply in bad taste!

We are still not sure if he was on the cover or just profiled in an article in the magazine. He recently passed away and my wife was very close to him. My wife bought me a subscription as a gift and indicated XL as the t shirt size that I need. I received a L that does not fit. Please advise on my next step. Thanks a lot.

I've been trying to register to be able to write posts on your design forum. I'm unsure of what went wrong. Are you updating your website on a consistent basis? Just curious. Please email me back..thanks

Hey I'm pretty amature photographer but sometimes I get some pretty sweet shots of journalistic surf photo's. How can I sumbit and who do I submit to for a look. I know you get possible a thousand plus similar requests but I thought I'd give it a shot since I have never asked anything like this before. Either way thanks for you time in even reading this. Sincerely- Crystal Balazik
